Inflatable sleeping pads (or sleeping mats) are lightweight and a great option for hiking. Easily inflated using a bag pump or your breath, comfortable and with varying insulation options for summer or winter use. Pack up very compact and easy to carry but generally more expensive than self inflating mats and care needs to be taken so as not to puncture them.
